The SWEET shop

The ‘SWEET’ shop.
As a child, I loved the sweet shop opposite the school, it was called BULLDOCKS and Mr Bulldock often served me.
It was a place of comfort and safety. I usually went in before and/or after school – not always for sweets. #williewonkaandthechocolat
I SEE as an adult how I stepped inside another TIME when I went through the door and how the comfort of sweets & especially chocolate played an enormous ROLE through the inner child and into my adult life (subconsciously).
When I felt bullied & unable to be heard or something appeared ‘out of reach’, my inner child called for sweets & chocolate as comfort!
I’m certain that a penny may drop for ‘others’ reading this but maybe not?
Next door to the sweet shop and on the corner was a funeral parlour.
I never feared death as a child, I feared people who were cruel.
One particular day I went into the sweet shop to get some sweets and the lady that served me told me that Mr Bulldock had died.
I was sad that I would not see Mr Bulldock again but in an instant, I also felt peace.
I recall saying to the lady behind the counter “they didn’t have far to take him”.
I cannot remember if she said anything but in my innocence, I had thought that Mr Bulldock had died in the sweet shop and was carried next door to the funeral parlour.
It still makes me laugh and I am sure Mr Bulldock will be laughing too.
There is always an UPSIDE to life, you just have to LOOK and find it.
